TERMS & CONDITIONS

Last Updated: November 6, 2025

Welcome to CommitVault ("we", "our", "us"). These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access and use of the CommitVault website and platform (the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use CommitVault.

1. About CommitVault

CommitVault is a platform designed to help users set personal commitments with financial stakes. If a user does not meet their commitment by the end of a reporting period, a predefined charge may be processed to their saved payment method via Stripe.

CommitVault does not guarantee motivation, success, or any particular outcome.

2. Eligibility

You must be:

  • At least 18 years old, and
  • Legally able to enter binding financial agreements.

3. Accounts and Security

  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • You are responsible for all actions taken through your account.
  • If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at support@commitvault.com.

4. Financial Stakes & Payments

  • Payments are processed securely by Stripe.
  • We do not store your full payment method details; Stripe handles all sensitive financial information.
  • When you create a commitment, you authorize CommitVault to charge your payment method if the conditions of the commitment are not met.
  • All charges are final unless required by law.
  • You are responsible for reviewing commitment rules before confirming.

5. When Charges Are Applied

A charge will be processed to your saved payment method when any of the following conditions are met:

  • No report submitted: You fail to submit a commitment report before the end of the reporting deadline.
  • Self-reported failure: You submit a report indicating that you did not meet your commitment.
  • Referee-reported failure: Your designated referee reports that you did not meet your commitment — regardless of what you reported yourself. A referee's report of failure overrides any self-report of success.

By creating a commitment, you authorize CommitVault to process a charge upon any of the above outcomes.

6. User Responsibilities

You agree not to:

  • Misrepresent your progress to avoid charges,
  • Attempt to manipulate the platform or reporting outcomes,
  • Use CommitVault for illegal, fraudulent, or harmful activities.

We may suspend or terminate accounts violating these responsibilities.

7. No Professional Advice

CommitVault does not provide legal, medical, psychological, or professional advice. The platform is intended for self-accountability only.

8. Platform Availability

We work to keep the Service available, but:

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted access,
  • We may modify or discontinue features at any time.
  • We are not liable for outages or data loss.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • CommitVault is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages,
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid to CommitVault in the last 12 months.

10. Termination

  • We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms.
  • You may delete your account at any time.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
